‘What India means to me’ Poem by 13 year old Bookosmian from Noida
The crimson blooming flowers in the valley
Majestic mountains and the slanting alleys
Bordering oceans and the green paddies
This is what India means to me…
Twenty nine states and seven union territories
The state divided by boundaries
We the people under its glory
That is what India means to me…
Varied traditions and diverse cultures
The rich history, the splendid sculptors,
Unity! That’s our juncture
This is what India means to me…
Festivals of Christmas, Eid, Pongal and Holi
The illuminated festival of Diwali
The vibrant and rich colours of Holi!!
This is what India means to me…
Soldiers protecting our borders
Farmers supplying us with food and fodder
Doctors curing us from every disorder!!
This is what India means to me…
Our Nobel Laureates and our brave fighters
Creative artists and engrossing writers
All of them in my life are great inspirers…
This is what India means to me…
The largest democracy promising equality
Justice, liberty and fraternity
Every citizen’s integrity and unity!!
This is what India means to me…
